Imagination Redefined

Have you ever approached a photographer and been given a weird look because you wanted to have your family dressed as Jedis and Siths?  What about having that vintage prom dress your mom wore, but let's get it caked in mud?  Well, look no further!  Because you will face no weird looks here.  Unless our over excited school girl worthy squeels give you one for a change.

Our themed sessions focus on making you bring that unique and so off beat its weird idea come to life.  No matter how odd is might sound to your neighbor, we think it's awesome.  And we love awesome!  Kabuki samurai? Lets!  Levitation like a stuntman?  Totally!  How about a Doctor Who family?!  OMG YES!!  Don't fear to show us your weird.  Because normal is overrated.

Or are you a vintage spirit looking for the right look for your Pin up or Rockabilly without being stuck in a studio?  How about something sweet and special to celebrate yourself or give to that special someone?  Or maybe you just want to feel like a model.  We have something for each of you as well.  Our sessions are relaxed, comfortable and full of fun and humor.  With our extended teams, let us give you a day unlike any you've had before.  Where you feel just as magnificent and look just as spectacular as that model in your favorite magazine.  Because you are beautiful too!

Cosplay or Persona as We Call It

Cosplay photography is our leading specialization.  From detail shots for entering competitions and select groups, to location specific and altered imagery, we help you bring your Persona to life.

Have you ever had such a love for a character or fandom you just had to make that awesome outfit?!  Or what about a fandom character that you knew was lying in wait for you to just bring them to life?  No matter what style cosplayer you are, we support and love you and the love you have for your fandom!  From conventions to private locations, we want to help you bring your Persona to life.

Persona is our unique cosplay portraiture session.  Where the session itself is more than just about the images, it's about the character you portray.  With research into every session, we seek out the prime locations to fit your character and you.

All of our Persona sessions are photographed by Lotus.  With her nearly decade's worth of experience as a cosplayer and former model, she will coach you during your session.  From hand placement, to prop usage, and even facial expressions, her goal is to capture you as your Persona.

Most of our packages now include advanced editing on your image(s) of choice.

FAQ

Where are you located?

We have home offices in Baldwin County, Alabama and in Lothian, Maryland.

We travel between both the Gulf Coast and the Mid-Atlantic regions. We also include servicing Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, the Florida Panhandle, Maryland, DC, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

ILotus and Darkshi Creations is a travel-based photography company and we love working in new places. So if you have a location in mind, let’s talk about it!

Are you queer friendly?

Yes, we are! In fact, Darkshi Creations is owned and operated by a queer woman. And as of early 2025, Lotus' trans son, Lenikai, has joined the team officially.

We are also proud supporters of Prisim United in Mobile, AL, PFlag, the Trevor Project, GLAAD and more. If you are involved with any LGBTQIA+ or Trans organizations, we would love to see how we can support you as well!

But, I’m awkward in front of the camera...

Completely. In fact, it’s normal. Most people feel awkward, self-conscious, or unsure when they first step in front of a camera. Especially if they’ve never done a professional shoot before.

Our work is built around creating a space that’s inclusive, affirming, and judgment-free. We work with people of all genders, sizes, identities, orientations, abilities, and backgrounds. Lotus being a plus-size model is a core benefit to our body diversity not being an afterthought in our process. It’s part of the business' foundation.

You don’t need to know how to pose or be “photogenic.” We guide you gently through everything, focusing on movement, emotion, and real connection rather than perfection. The goal isn’t to change how you look. It’s to help you see yourself differently, with more softness, confidence, and truth.

How much editing do you do? Or is it extra?

ALL delivered images are professionally edited in our signature film-inspired style. This includes true-to-color corrections, lighting, and artistic polish for persona and conceptual portraits.

We do not alter bodies, remove identities, or change how you fundamentally look. The goal is to reflect you, not rewrite you.

The only added costs to editing are for our Persona session upgrades or for big changes like "head swaps" for event/wedding photos. Prices for these edits are based on complexity and seasonal demands,

How long does it take to receive my photos?

Turnaround time varies by session type, but most galleries are delivered within 2–4 weeks.

Weddings and larger projects typically take 4-6 weeks based on season demands. If adjustments are needed in your turn around time, these will be highlighted in your personal contract details.

Do you capture destination weddings?

Yes, we do!

We not only travel domestically, but are now booking international for 2026 and beyond.

Please contact us directly to see if you destination wedding falls under our Top Locations or not for a chance at discounted or waived travel fees.

Will there be a second shooter?

All of our basic and mid range event and wedding packages do not include a second shooter.

Second shooters are available as an add on to your package.

We do have an assistant on hand, but they do not take pictures like a second shooter. These team members are generally there to help me with gear, helping stage, hold lighting and help pose and fix attire quickly.

What kind of gear do you use?

We shoot with professional Nikon and Sony camera systems, paired with a full range of lenses so we can adapt to any environment, lighting condition, or story we’re telling.

Our lighting style leans toward available light and cinematic mood. That means we work with what’s already there whenever possible. We shape natural light, shadows, and ambient tones to create images that feel real and immersive. When the moment calls for it, we will also incorporate artificial lighting, that includes flashes, strobes, and continuous video lights, to enhance the atmosphere rather than overpower it.

Gear is simply a tool. What matters most is how it’s used — to make you feel comfortable, to honor the space we’re in, and to create images that feel intentional, polished, and true to your story.

Do you teach photography?

Yes, Lotus does!

I offer custom, one-on-one and small group photography classes tailored to your skill level and goals. Whether you’re just getting started, refining your technical foundation, or diving deeper into lighting, posing, and creative storytelling, lessons are built around how you learn and what you want to create.

My teaching background comes from years of hands-on experience working in a professional camera shop (Calagaz Photo), where I received certified training across Sony, Nikon, Canon, and Fujifilm systems. That experience allows me to teach beyond brand loyalty and focus on helping you truly understand your camera, your light, and your creative process.

I also teach lighting techniques, workflow, and posing, making these classes especially helpful for portrait photographers looking to build confidence both behind and in front of the camera.

In addition, I’m a recognized photography educator for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. And offering structured, approachable instruction for youth programs as well.

If you’re interested in lessons, reach out through the contact page and we’ll build a class and pricing structure that fits your needs.
